I worked for Dan while he was up on the hill as you entered Lake City- at Dan's Standard. I learned a lot about cars, life, and how to treat people while I was there. He maintained a file where your good name and your word was all you needed to get $5.00 worth of gas to hold you over until payday. A handshake was a bond back then... I left to join the Army and many times when I returned to Lake City I'd go visit him in his new location on Beeler Rd. During one visit I told him, "For al I learned working with you I should have been paying you." With his quick wit and a smile he told me I owe him $700.00! What a character.

I had an old safari van that I always took in to Dan to patch up. He could keep anything running, great backyard mechanic. He used to say when there was no more help for my van he would retire. He finally said it was ready for junk yard. But he didn't retire:wink:. He will be missed. Especially when I go by his garage:disappointed:

I have very fond memories of Dan growing up in Lake City - or as my father would call him “Danny”. My family appreciated his good work ethic running his business - honest, trustworthy. But at the heart of that - Dan was just a really a good guy. When I think about or see my dad’s yellow Triumph TR7 - I think of Danny. He kept that thing running for years for us! Rest peace. Lake City has lost a good friend.

Dan was a master at getting your car back on the road and he never charged enough. My mechanic and friend for over 30 years, he will be missed.

Dan: Thank you for taking care of a car or truck problem for us, above all for being sincere, honest and dependable. Reading other comments are a tribute to you, and many of us have lost a great friend. Dan was a true friend, he would do anything he could to help. Won't be the same without Dan.

A wonderful guy, gone too soon. Dan bailed me out many a time with his skills and always did it with humble pride. Just like an old fashioned doctor, He came to the house to fix your ills. I am honored to have known him. May he rest in peace. John Duane

My thoughts and prayers are with Dan's family. Dan was like a "security blank" who was always there to fix your problem. He was a friend and as I described him in a book I wrote, he was my "angel" in disguise, as he has been to many others. Dan was kind, thoughtful, honest, trustworthy and all the qualities that made him who he was. You knew after he worked on your vehicle, it would work and not have something else go wrong after you drove away. I could leave a signed blank check for him for car repairs and knew I could trust him. Lake City has lost one of it's BEST !!! Gerry Seger

Dan was so good to us when we still in Lake City, every time we need service for our car, instead on bringing my car to his shop, he goes to the house and pick up my car, you will be miss Dan
