Message from Amy Stewart - September 08, 2016 at 11:37 AM

My sincere condolences to the Howey family. I went to school with Brandon at Lake City and one of my earliest memories of Brandon was in 3rd or 4th grade when Mrs. Howey brought sapling pine trees for all the kids in our class. I named mine piney and planted it in our front yard (the parsonage at Calvary Baptist church). Your family will be in my prayers. May you feel God's grace and presence during this extremely difficult time. - Amy (Hardy) Stewart

Message from Shannon Mullens - September 07, 2016 at 04:09 PM

I only knew Brandon for a few months - we played video games together. But he had such a great sense of humor - a little dark and always hilarious, and he made me feel really welcome and very relaxed hanging out with a new group of friends. Easy to talk to and very fun to be around, I'm really going to miss him. He was so young and so vibrant and such a great person. I'm so sorry he's gone.

Message from Dusten Rake - September 08, 2016 at 08:10 AM

I met Brandon when he was 19 years of age. He was graduating from college, and was starting his career. Over the years, Brandon has worked with me and for me. We went our separate ways over a 12 year span. But we stayed in touch through phone and e-mail. And always during MSU football seasons. Brandon Howey was hard working, very intelligent, committed to his craft and a great knowledge base for his fellow employee’s. He was also kind, loving, loyal, respectful and a true friend. Mr. and Mrs. Howey: You should know without a doubt, you raised one heck of a young man. Brandon will be missed by so many. Dusten Rake

Message from Sandy McGranaghan - September 08, 2016 at 11:02 AM

Brandon's Biomedical department is adjacent to the Pulmonary Lab where I work at Nebraska Medicine. Brandon has always been such a pleasant person to work and interact with. He always had his Michigan State lanyard on and would banter back and forth with me about how the Spartans were better than the Huskers. He was such a smart person and possessed so much knowledge about this work. We will all miss him and want you to know how special he was. Our thoughts are of you, our prayers are for you and our hearts are with you. Rest in peace, Brandon.Sandy McGranaghan and the Pulmonary Lab Staff at Nebraska Medicine

I just recently learned of Brandon's passing. I'm so shocked and saddened. I crossed paths with Brandon at his workplace. He was always working hard, but he also knew how to have fun with his colleagues and vendors! Brandon and I had a great rapport and he always made me laugh. He was genuine from the moment I first met him. He often spoke fondly about hunting and fishing in Michigan with his family. Just a great guy. Brandon will truly be missed by all that knew him. Rest easy my friend.

I've only met Brandon a little over a year ago. We weren't that close, we often clashed on a lot of ideas, but ultimately we had a lot of fun together, and he is someone that I respected, regardless of how little I showed it. Strange how someone on the other side of the continent would come to influence my life this way. I can't put into words how his passing is making me feel. Everyone loved you Brandon. May you rest eternally in peace knowing that you have left your mark on all of our lives

Message from Kathleen Swinehart - September 07, 2016 at 03:41 PM

I remember when my 2 children, Cole & Jessica Swinehart were yoing, making many trips to the Howey house for the kids to get together and play. This was my first time seeing a real live ferret, chinchilla and hedge hog! When it was time to leave it was hard to get Cole & Jess in the car. All the way home they would tell me about all the great snacks they had and how they couldn't wait to go back. Lets not forget about Halloween times either. :). Missy, I am so sorry to you and your family for your loss. Our children together made such great childhood memories. Love,, Kathleen Swinehart.

Message from Wayne E. Howell, Jr. - September 08, 2016 at 03:56 PM

I've worked with Brandon over the past 3 years. He was always professional and helpful. He would provide technical advice and his opinion with a sarcastic twist. He was a great asset to our Biomed team here at Nebraska Medicine/SodexoCTM. He will be sorely replaced. Peace be with you.

Message from Abby Du - September 08, 2016 at 12:11 PM

I think I've started to write and erase about several times by now. I don't even know where to really beginning. Brandon has had such a huge impact to everyone around him, even for people he will never meet. His foot print, work, & ideas are everywhere here at Nebraska Medicine. He's a great coworker, a good peer mentor, and an even greater friend. It's hard not miss bouncing ideas, thoughts, and mean joking banters with him. He is an incredible human being. Rest in peace Brandon. You are missed dearly.

Message from Dani Bruenn - September 07, 2016 at 04:27 PM

I met Brandon almost 3 years ago and since then we would speak every single day. Whether it was video games, movies, our jobs, we always laughed and enjoyed each others company. Just recently he came to visit and we made sure to pick him up from the airport with a big glittery sign that read "Brando" which was his (least) favorite nickname I had for him, but I can remember his big smile and his laugh the second he saw it. Thank you Brando for being my best friend and for always being there for me. I'm going to miss you so much but I am thankful for all of the good memories you have left me with.
