Rodmond E. “Jack” Edwards, age 90, formerly of Lake City, passed away October 18, 2017 at the Olive Branch Assisted Living in Perry, Michigan.
Jack was born September 22, 1927 in Cutcheon of Forest Township, Missaukee County to RE and Mavis (Shrontz) Edwards.
He was a lifelong resident of Lake City and wintered in New Smyrna Beach, Florida until the last two years when he sold his home in Lake City and moved to Perry.
Jack married the former Alice G. Williams in Ronoake Rapids, NC July 31, 1946. They were married for 62 years until he lost the love of his life April 27, 2009.
Jack served in the US Army from 1944 -1947 and then served many years in the Army National Guard.
He was a 32 degree Mason and Shriner. Jack was Past Master and life member of the Lake City F & AM Lodge No. 408. He was a member of Scottish Rite-Valley of Grand Rapids. Jack was also a member of the Saladin Shrine Club. He was Mason of the Year by Lake City Lodge 408.
Jack was a member of the Shriner Tryke Patrol for over 15 years. The Tryke Patrol took part every 4th of July parade in Lake City and also traveled all over the State of Michigan to be in other parades. He truly loved doing this every spring, summer and fall.
He loved cooking breakfast every September for the Festival of the Pines, and also the chicken BBQ fund raiser at the Cadillac Art Fair every July, until it was just too much for him.
He was a member of the Jackson Koster Gray American Legion Post # 300 of Lake City for over 50 years.
He worked at Chris Craft, Lake City Post Office and Cadillac Rubber and Plastic.
Jack is survived by his two sons and daughter and their spouses: Rod (Kathy) Edwards of Okemos, Bill
(Judy) Edwards of Caledonia, and Nancy (Dennis) Clark of New Smyrna Beach, FL, ten grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is also survived by sisters: Dora (David) Inman of Lake City, Bonnie (George) Stewart of Manton and a brother Clare Edwards of Bay City, sister in law: Ruth (Lanny) Gott of Lake City, brothers in law: Leonard (Bonnie) Williams of Beulah and Winfred Williams of Virginia, also many very much loved nieces and nephews and their families.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents RE and Mavis (Shrontz) Edwards, father and mother in law: Claude Sr and Matdora (Mosely) Williams, brother and sister in law, Ernie and Janet Edwards, sister and brother in law Francis and Clare Osterhaut, brother and sister in law, Claude Jr. and Esther Williams, sister and brother in law Anne and Keith Stille and daughter in law Cindy (Balzer) Edwards
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the Young Funeral Home in Lake City, conducted by the Masonic Lodge 408. A time of visitation will begin at 10:00 am until the time of
services. Graveside Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 300 at the Lake City Ceme-tery
