Grace A. Schmitt, age 84 of Lake City passed away Saturday, August 5, 2017 at the Maple Ridge Living Center.

She was born February 13, 1933 in Detroit to Casimer and Mary (Pilkowski) Frederick. Grace married Joseph D. Schmitt and he preceded her in death June 30, 2016. They moved to the Lake City area in 1988 from Brown City, Michigan. Grace was a member of the St. Stephen Catholic Church. She loved to garden, especially flower gardening.

Grace is survived by two sons: John A Schmitt of Frederick, Maryland and Kenneth A. (Jen-nifer) Schmitt of Chesapeake, Virginia, five grandchildren: Justin, Kaitlyn, Jenna, Christopher and Cassandra. She is also survived by a sister Deloris Frydyrch of Marion. Besides her husband Joseph she was preceded in death by two sons: Joseph Jr. and James.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 11, 2017 at St. Stephen Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Janowski officiating. A time of visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday August 10 with a Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m. at Young Funeral Home. Burial will take place in the Lake City Cemetery. Mass contributions may be directed to St. Stephen Catholic Church.
