Elizabeth Marie Sherwood, age 88 of Merritt passed away April 20, 2018 at her home.

She was born May 30, 1929 in Fremont to John Nicholas and Edna Marie (Hester) Cole.

Elizabeth married Allen L. Sherwood on April 20, 1947 in Fremont. He preceded her in
death December 11, 2007.

Elizabeth retired from the Collins Elementary School in Houghton Lake. She enjoyed
reading, quilting, knitting and crocheting. She was a supporter of the Merritt Butterfield
United Methodist Church; mostly with their local missions.

Elizabeth is survived by her sons: Steven (Donna) Sherwood of Merritt,
Tim (Stephanie) Sherwood of Loveland, CO, and David (Julie) Sherwood of Dexter and
daughters: Leslie (Tom) Bowman of Merritt, Diane (Fred) Lehr of Cadillac, Nancy (Gary)
Langdon of Austin, TX and Robin (Dan) Straub of Traverse City. Also surviving her are
20 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband Allen, she was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters and a son Tom Stuart Sherwood.

In honor of Elizabeth’s request, there will be a private family service followed by
burial in the Butterfield Township Cemetery.
