Arvella Joan McKerchie, age 83, passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Quiet Creek AFC Home in Falmouth.

She was born in Missaukee County on July 10, 1935 to Daniel and Lola Bell (Hinkley) Bard.
Joan was the oldest of ten siblings.

Joan was employed at Grand Rapids Die Casting for several years. She enjoyed
camping, her flower garden, watching her birds, fishing and traveling in the Upper Peninsula. Joan loved her family, enjoyed get togethers and always had a laugh that was contagious.

She is survived by her sons, Charles G. Hale of DePere, WI and Patrick Hale of Grand Rapids, three brothers, Donald Bard of Lake City, Richard (Mary) Bard of Sears, and Carl (Jeanne) Metzger of Lake City, three sisters, Margie Bard of Manton, Wilma Sirpilla of McBain and Ada Baughan of Ottawa Lake. She is also survived by several grandchildren and great
grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Joan was preceded in death by three husbands; Charles M. “Jack” Hale, Robert E.
Kasankiewicz and Donald T. McKerchie, sons, Daniel, Michael and Chris and grandson Brian Hale, brother Nelson Bard and two sisters Norma Jean Haselhaun and Karen Bard.

A private memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
