To a true and grand Lady. A great teacher and a wonderful person. For all her students who were lucky to have her and all the parents of those children she will be remembered as not only a wonderful teacher, but an example of kindness and warmth to the children and their families. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family.Gerry SegerLake City

Message from Don and Deb Palmer - July 16, 2014 at 05:43 AM

With all due respect to the Duddles family who both Deb (McGiness) and I know well, "MRS. LUCE" was truly a gem! Even to this day, I remember many of the wonderful things she did for us in her First and Second Grade classrooms. My wife would always say SHE only had Mrs. Luce one year and got it right. My response is that I had her in both grades and was LUCKY to have her.Kind, caring and willing to go the extra mile.Another great remembrance were the many summers along Sanborn Road where the Palmers and Hamlets lived. Throw in the Moshers and Burkholders along the highway and we had many games of basketball, baseball and football across the street from the Hamlets. Of course, one of our main 'motives' was to quench our ' thirst' we all rode our bikes to Mrs. Luce's house telling her when she warmly greeted us that we wanted to see the farm animals they had but in reality, we knew we would get the fresh baked goods and cold KOOL-Aid!I had the pleasure of briefly corresponding via letters with her last January while she was in Florida. Nice indeed. While in my 39th year in education myself, Mrs. Luce was definitely one role model in our lives. To the family--- THANKS for sharing your Mom with us during the many years in education and at home during those warm summer days. She will be missed..Fondly,Don and Deb (McGiness) Palmer
