I remember the day that I, the new wet-behind the ears pastor of the Finnish church, called on the Hower family. It was early afternoon and when I arrived and I was greeted - in a not so friendly way, by this HUGE dog - Brenda had to come and rescue me so I could get out of my car! After explaining who I was, she invited me to come in for some coffee. On the way in, I noticed a sign on the door: NO SOLICITORS NOR JEHOVAH WITNESSES! I quickly wondered what I was getting myself into and whether or not I made the right decision in calling on this family, but Brenda quickly put me at ease and I discovered a beautiful family made up of Don, Darin, Druzanne and the woman in charge! It was a privilege to be their pastor for the next 11 years. My thoughts are with you in these difficult days. Pastor Richard C. Nelson (Nelsonin for the Finns!)

I wish I had known the dates of visitation and funeral because I would have been honored to be there to pay tribute to her live, but did not know until Monday what arrangements where.
