Manton - Vernon Jay Disbrow of Manton passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026 at Grace Haven Senior Living. He was 82. Vernon grew up in Detroit and the Metro area. Upon graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Navy in 1962 and became a Seabee, serving in Morocco, Cuba and Vietnam.
Shortly after his discharge in 1966, he met and married Mary Lynn Ludeman. He then became a Clinton Township Police Officer, retiring in 1993. Vernon enjoyed bowling, fishing, golf and reading. He was a life member of the VFW, the MCB1 Reunion Group, The Navy Seabee Veterans of America and the Fraternal Order of Police. He was also a life member of the Seabee Memorial Museum in Port Hueneme, California.
Vernon is survived by his children, Lauren Brey of Sault Ste. Marie and Ian Disbrow of Manton; twin grandchildren, River and Simon Brey; his brother, Michael (Denise) Disbrow of Manton; as well as many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mary Lynn; his parents, and a sister, Sharon Geraci.
Graveside services will take place at Liberty Township Cemetery on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 11am, with a gathering to follow at the Liberty Township Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Seabee Museum, Port Hueneme, California or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Grace Haven Senior Living for their love, care and devotion for Vern.
