Sherry Lynn Bourgeois

Sherry Lynn Bourgeois, of Mount Pleasant, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at the Woodland Hospice House in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. She was 62.

Sherry was born on January 18, 1964 to Bud and Joyce (Helsel) Bourgeois in Cadillac, Michigan. After graduating high school from Houghton Lake, she went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree from Central Michigan University. Sherry dedicated her career to working as a news reporter for nearly 40 years, a job she truly enjoyed.  She spent much of her early years at the Waterfront Newspaper, in Lake City, and then at the Cadillac Evening News, before moving on to West Virginia and Maryland. In her spare time, she could often be found cheering on the Detroit Lions, impersonating Elvis, or helping others. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her family and friends.

Sherry is survived by her loving family, her mother, Joyce Harris; brother, Tim Bourgeois; her aunts, Carol (Jim) Hejnal and Sandra (Terry) Ames; cousins, Mike Snyder, Susan Jenkins, Patty Peterson, Terry Crane, Kevin Crane, Scott Crane, Brian Kunkel, Keith Helsel, Steven Hejnal, and Darren Hejnal; and many other loving family members and friends.
 
She was preceded in death by father, Bud Bourgeois; aunt, Joan (Leonard) Snyder; and an uncle, Doug (Sheila) Helsel.
 
Cremation has taken place and interment will be on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Lake City Cemetery at 11am followed by a luncheon at the Pioneer Township Hall.
