Larry Schooley Obituary

Larry G. Schooley, age 87 of Lake City passed away, Friday, June 2, 2023 at Autumnwood of McBain.

Larry was born September 26, 1935 in Lake City to Ernest and Margaret (Shivlie) Schooley.

He attended Lake City High School and in1955 enlisted in the US Marine Corps attaining the rank of Corporal (Buck Sargeant) and was honorably discharged in 1963.

He was united in loving marriage to the former Gene Ellen Ralston on May 4, 1985 in Lake City and they traveled extensively around the country together.

Larry loved the out of doors involving his children and grandchildren in activities like hunting, fishing, boating and much more. Larry was a jack of all tradesmen and had spent many years working as a pipefitter, oilfields driller, artist/artisan, mold maker and especially a carpenter.

Larry is survived by his wife, Gene and sons, Mark Schooley of Hillsdale, Todd Allen of Independence, KY and Scott (Tammy) Allen of Lake City, five grandchildren: Samantha, Coty, Drew, Jessica and Hannah and seven great grandchildren.

He is also survived by four sisters: Mary Burkholder, Kay Hodges and Norma Lutke all of Lake City and Sandy Ver Hulst of Wyoming, MI and many nieces and nephews and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Fred, Bill, Ken and Dick and three sisters, Elaine, Jean and Linda and two daughters, Sherri and Terri.
