John Irving Arquilla, age 104 of Lake City, passed away September 25, 2022 at Pleasant Lake Lodge in Cadillac.
John was born May 12, 1918 in Dickson Township, MI to Ben and Louisa Arquilla who migrated together to the United States from Italy.
John grew up on the family farm in Harrietta, MI and he loved spending time on the farm.
During John's 104 years he observed many changes in the world. John retired from the University of Michigan Hospital where he worked many years as a janitor.
John married Caroline M. Bugbee on December 12, 1980.
John was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake City and loved his church family.
John was lovingly cared for by the staff at Pleasant Lake Lodge in Cadillac and the family appreciates all their excellent care over the last several years. Anyone who knew or came in contact with John would always mention how joyful, kind and positive he was. He was loved and cared for by many people in the community and beyond throughout his life.
John is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Louisa, his wife Caroline and his siblings, Mary (Arquilla) Lipke, Catherine (Arquilla) Kuzma, Lucille (Arquilla) Vitulli, Elena (Arquilla) Kruse, Edith (Arquilla) McDonald and Michael Arquilla.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Lake City on October 9, 2022 during their 10:00 am service. Burial will take place in the Lake City Cemetery.
