Lake City - Jack Arden Loney, lifelong resident of the Moorestown area passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Crawford Continuing Care Center in Grayling. He was 92.
Jack was born on October 14, 1931, in Moorestown, Michigan to Hugh and Marvel (McIntosh) Loney. He grew up in the Moorestown area attending school before becoming part of the graduating class of 1949 from Lake City High School. On October 18, 1953, Jack, entered into marriage with the former Elizabeth Spehar, the couple shared 71 years together and grew their family with the birth of four children.
Jack worked very hard for many, many, years and established himself with the gravel industry, working all over the State of Michigan. Jack truly enjoyed the outdoors and loved hunting, especially with his good friend and hunting partner, Ivan Edmunds. He often could be found working the family's property making sure to keep things up, whether it was blazing new trails or maintaining older ones. Jack unofficially became the "Fix It Man" as he helped many in the community to repair cars, lawnmowers, and appliances. The Mooorestown community and his family will cherish his memory for years to come.
Jack is survived by his loving wife, Liz Loney; his four children, William "Bill" (Gina) Loney, Timothy (Karrie) Loney, Mary (Bob) Jackson, and Michael (Lesia) Loney; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; as well as many other loving family members, friends and community members. He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Timothy C. Loney; and a sister, Della.
Visitation for friends and family will be on Friday, March 8, 2024, at the Young-Holdship Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Funeral services will follow on Saturday, March 9, 2024 also at the funeral home in Lake City, at 11:00 am, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will take place at the Moorestown Cemetery.
