Gregory Allen Willis Sr., of Boon, passed away on Thursday, July 30,2026 at home with his family by his side. He was 73.
Greg was born on May 16, 1953, to Ross and Bessie (Wakely) Willis in Cadillac, Michigan. After completing school, he went on to attend Culinary Art Schools in Traverse City, where he grew his passion for creating baked goods and special dishes. Greg then answered the call of duty, serving in the United States Navy for 10 years during the Vietnam Era. Upon returning to civilian life, he had a variety of occupations throughout his career, including AAR, Cadillac Rubber and Plastics, and opening his own auto repair shop in Cadillac. Returning to his love for baking, he was a long-time employee of Duane’s Family Restaurant in Falmouth and ultimately retired as the cook at Curry House Assisted Living facility in Cadillac, where he made many friends and was loved by the residents. Greg married Julie (Mongar) and together they raised 3 boys. Later in life he married Anita (Scott) Willis. In his spare time, you could find him under the hood of one of his cars getting it ready to hit the track. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his family and friends.
Greg is survived by his loving wife Anita Willis; his ex-wife, Julie; sons, Greg (Elizabeth) Willis Jr. of Adolphus KY, Richard (April) Willis of Cadillac, and Floyd (Robin) Willis of Cadillac; step-sons, Cory (Candy) Fitt of Harrietta and Scott (Lindsey) Fitt; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Ross James Willis III of Boon and John Willis of IN; several nieces and nephews; and many other loving family members and friends.
