Diane Rustad Obituary

Diane Marie Rustad, age 71, of Houghton Lake passed away on Friday February 7, 2020 at home

Diane was born on August 10, 1948 to Clement and Elizabeth(Grenier) Oswald. She moved to Houghton Lake 41 years ago from Harrison. Diane retired from Houghton Lake Community Schools where she taught second grade for many years. She married Norman Rustad in Gatlinburg, Tennessee on April 24, 2000. After retiring Diane continued to work as a volunteer and substitute teacher at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Schools. She was a member of St. Hubert Catholic Church. She enjoyed planting flowers, all of her years as a teacher and enjoyed her volunteer work. Diane especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. 

Diane is survived by her loving husband; Norman Rustad of Houghton Lake, daughter; Denae Green of Houghton Lake, grandchildren; Bryce Stevens and Myla Green and sister; Susan Fitrzyk of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister; Christine Handley. 

Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in memory of Diane are asked to be directed to Our Lady of the Lake Catholic School. Christler Funeral Home-Prudenville Chapel is serving the family. Condolences can be sent to the family online at www.christler-holdship.com
