Carol (Richards) Taylor

Carol Taylor, of Boon, entered the Pearly Gates of Heaven, March 15, 2024 at Autumnwood of McBain. She was 93.

Carol, the 9th of 10 children, was born on December 20, 1930 to Wilfred "Earl" and Bessie Richards in Traverse City, Michigan. She was a graduate of Cadillac High School, Class of 1949. Carol entered into marriage with John E. Gilbert in August 1949. The couple had six children and were married for 32 years before he passed away in July 1982. She later married Floyd J. Taylor in November 1984, and he preceded her in September 1996. Carol spent her career as a bus driver for Cadillac Public Schools for 22 years. She loved and protected each student as if they were her own. She was usually the first to sign up to drive for trips, including sports, band and event field trips. Carol loved nature and all animals, especially birds. She liked to go fishing and enjoyed volunteering her time as Den Mother for the Boy Scouts. Carol liked sitting in the Cadillac High School stadium, cheering on the football team. She spent many years, even after her sons no longer played, watching games. Once she could no longer climb the bleachers, she would park by the end zones and cheer on the teams. Her sons, Daniel and Thomas played for the Northmen football. Carol cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Carol is survived by her loving children, John, Thomas (Kathleen), Daniel, Jerry (Kathleen), Valerie, and Joyce (Eugene) Jastrem; brother, Richard (Nancy) Richards; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special companion, Richard Lougee; and many other loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, John; second husband, Floyd; her parents, Earl and Bessie; 6 brothers; 3 sisters; and a daughter-in-law, Lois Gilbert.
  
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Hitesman-Holdship Funeral Home with visitation held two hours prior. Interment will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery.
