Bertha "Jo" Hose

Lake City - Bertha Jo Louise Hose, of Lake City, went home to join her loving husband and family in the early morning of Wednesday, March 6, 2024. She was 82.

She was born on November 28, 1941, in Butterfield Township to Arthur "Ray" and Dorothy Mae (Chrispell) Hancock. Jo entered into marriage with Jacob Theodore Hose on August 1, 1958, who preceded her in death in 2009. 

Jo enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, crocheting, putting together puzzles and visiting with her friends.  She spent many of her years working for the Aloha Ranch, and thoroughly enjoyed taking care of the residents.  Her earlier working years were spent at the Four Star factory in Cadillac, and at a couple area restaurants.  She also had fun working at Merritt Speedway for several years.  Jo will forever be remembered by her great-grandkids as "grandma grandma" or Gigi. Jo was a longtime member and active part of the Merritt-Butterfield United Methodist Church, who used her crochet skills to create and share many prayer shawls.  She also volunteered her time distributing food to elderly, and in years past created many memories with classmates as the "59er's" would gather for a meal.  She will be deeply missed.

Jo is survived by her daughter, Robin Kelley; her two sons, Randy (Jan) Hose and Rodney (Pauline) Hose; 13 grandkids; 28 great-grandkids; four (soon to be five) great-great-grandkids; as well as many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob; daughter, Rene'; sisters, Lila, Dorothy, and Freda; brothers, Terry and Evert; as well as two siblings in infancy.

Memorial services will be held at 11am, on Friday, March 15, 2024 at the Young-Holdship Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior.  Following, Jo's urn will be laid to rest at the Aetna Township Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the Merritt-Butterfield UMC.  Condolences and memories may be shared with the family online at www.HoldshipFuneralHomes.com          The family is being served by the Young-Holdship Funeral Home.
