Zelda Elizabeth Chaffee, age 93 of Lake City passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017, at her home.

Zelda was born May 1, 1924 in Pioneer Township of Missaukee County to Marion and Hannah (Helsel) Musselman.

She married Stanley M. Chaffee on August 25, 1945 in Marquette. Stanley preceded her in death November 5, 1993.

Zelda was a hard worker and kept busy. She would always go out of her way to help others. She enjoyed garage sales and visiting the Dollar Stores. She could usually be found cooking, baking, sewing or reading her Bible. She attended the Morey Community Church and loved her family and enjoyed her grandchildren.

Zelda is survived by her children: Sharon Smith, Julie (Jerry) Park and Ervin Chaffee, four grandchildren: Karen Chaffee, Ricky (Hillary) Chaffee, Tommy Chaffee and Tyler Chaffee and two great grandchildren Emily and Levi Chaffee. She is also survived by two brothers: Jimmy (Sheryl) Musselman and Keith (Sherry) Musselman and two special nieces Bear Young and Roxanne Musselman.

Zelda was preceded in death by her parents, a son Ricky in 2006 and her sisters Barbara, Myrtle and Alma and brothers John, Allen and Bing.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the Young Funeral Home, with Mr. Russell Sloat officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon until the time of services.

Burial will take place in the Lake City Cemetery.
