Wayne Gordon Shepler, age 86 of Manton passed away July 18, 2018 at his home.
Wayne was born February 23, 1932 in Lansing to Ernest and Leatha (Searles) Shepler.
He married Alma Marie Martin July 2, 1966. She preceded him in death in 2011.
Wayne was a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean War.
He and Alma owned a dairy farm and managed an Adult Foster Care Home for 23 years and Wayne also worked as a home building constructor.
He loved to fish and enjoyed watching airplanes in flight.
Wayne always had an open door for family and friends. He was member of the Manton Living Word Ministries, assisting in remodeling the building and active in the Food Pantry. He was a great prayer warrior. He will be remembered as a lov-ing father and grandfather and “Old Pa” by his great grandchildren.
Wayne is survived by his children: Amy (Bret) Baker, Theresa (Allen) Musselman and Melanie (Jim) Morris all of Manton, Christine (Bruce) Decker of Sherwood and one very special granddaughter, Nicole (Craig) Bloxsom of Kingsley.
Also surviving him is a brother Jerry Shepler of Georgia, 18 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend special thank you to Nathan Potts, Cara Shaw, Faith Allen and Danielle Woods for their extraordinary loving care of Wayne.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Max Shepler and two sisters Erma Case and Sandra Shepler.
A time of visitation will be Monday, July 23, 2018 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Young Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at 12:30 pm at the Lake City Cemetery with Pastor Marc Hicks officiating. Military Honors will be presented by the American Legion Post 300 of Lake City. Burial will be in the Lake City Cemetery.
