Joy Lynn Somers, age 59 of Lake City passed away April 8, 2018 at her home.

Joy was born March 23, 1959 in Northport, Michigan to Lawrence and Ruth (Leabo) Flees.

She graduated from Northport High School in 1977 and enjoyed a variety of crafts; crocheting,
knitting, quilting and ceramics. She was involved in Lake City and McBain with the 4-H Horse
Club and she was employed as a manager for the Next Door Marathon Station and also worked
at the Lake City Family Pharmacy.

Joy enjoyed camping and fishing and staying in touch with family and friends through her phone and Facebook.

Joy is survived by her daughter, Jackie (Dennis Johnson) Chester of Lake City and son, Daniel Flees of Lake City and granddaughter Miya Johnson. She is also survived by a brother, Larry Flees and a sister, Paula Flees both of Suttons Bay.

Joy was preceded in death by her parents.

A Celebration of Life will be 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the Caldwell Township Hall on M-42, Manton, MI 49663.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the family in care of Jackie Chester, PO Box 117, Lake City, MI 49651 to develop an educational fund for Joy’s granddaughter, Miya.
