Gerald Robert “Bob” Holmes, age 77 of Manton, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Autumnwood of McBain.

Bob was born April 27, 1939 in Bay City to Gerald and Mildred (Woodman) Holmes.

He married the former Kristine Ann Gustafson in Frankenmuth.

Bob served in the US Coast Guard and was stationed in Sault Ste. Marie.

He was a Red Cross Volunteer Donor and a Water Safety Instructor in Jackson County and was a volunteer fireman for 30 years for Parma-Sandstone, Cannonsburg and Lake City.

Bob was employed for twenty years with Consumers Power Company. In 1986 they moved to Lake City where he owned the Ace Hardware for ten years.

In 1996 he became employed by McBain Wood and managed the factory until 2004.

Bob enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing and was one of the founders of McFish.

Bob is survived by his wife Kris of Manton, a son Jon (Missy) Holmes of Kingsley and grandchildren Ethan and Hailey

The family is planning a Celebration of Life to be held this summer.
