Verla M. McBrian

Cadillac - Verla Maxine McBrian, of Cadillac and formerly of Manton, entered the arms of Jesus with family by her side on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Sunnyside Senior Living. She was 96.

Verla was born on July 2, 1922, in Manton, Michigan to Burel and Dorothy May (Lanning) Burke. She entered into marriage with Sylvester N. McBrian in Manton on January 7, 1939, celebrating over 72 years of marriage together until his passing in 2011. 

Verla was strong in her faith and often enjoyed spending time with her family around the table and providing delicious home cooked meals. She would pass time crocheting, tending to housework or singing. In early years, Verla could be found playing her organ or taking her girls swimming.  She had a profound love for her family who will deeply miss her.  

Verla  is survived by her loving family; her daughters, Lois (Dale) Allison, Ella May (David) Cushman, Carolyn (Rudy) Miller; her eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Garn; many nieces and nephews; as well as many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester McBrian; a daughter, Beverly Martin; one sister, Leota Myers; her brother, Alton and her parents.

Funeral services will take place at 2 pm on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Cherry Grove Church of the Nazarene, with visitation one hour prior. She will be laid to rest alongside family at the Fairview Cemetery in Manton in the spring. Memorial contributions may be directed to Sunnyside Senior Living, 108 Wildwood Drive, Cadillac, MI 49601, for the benefit of the residents.
