Cadillac - Shirley A. Cooper, of LeRoy, passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at the Samaritas Senior Living in Cadillac. She was 83.
Shirley was born on January 7, 1936 to Clarence and Mary (Dement) Tayman in Brandywine, Maryland. She worked as a secretary for an insurance firm after graduating high school. She also worked for Amicare and the Council on Aging. Shirley truly enjoyed helping others. In her spare time, She loved to craft gifts for others; and she really loved church and teaching Sunday School. She was a faithful member of the Dighton Wesleyan Church. Shirley cherished the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her children, Paul Cooper of Virginia, Richard Cooper of Dighton, Diane Severance of Massachusetts, Virginia Bredahl of Manton, Brian Cooper of Traverse City and David Cooper of North Carolina; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two siblings, Walter Tayman and Audrey Myers; as well as several other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Mary Myrtle; her brothers, Walter "Buck" R. Tayman, Joseph "Bo" R. Tayman, John "Dinky" L. Tayman, and Earl F. Tayman; her sisters, Virginia "Thelma" Willingham, Mary "Gladys" G. Bovbjerg and Mary Ellen O'Reily.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 10, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Fosnaught-Holdship Funeral Home in Marion. Interment will take place following at Sherman Township Cemetery. A luncheon will conclude at Dighton Wesleyan Church.
