Richard "Rick" Malone Jones

Richard "Rick"  Malone Jones, age 61, of Prudenville passed away on Tuesday May 7, 2019 at home.

Rick was born on June 16, 1957 in Royal Oak, Michigan to Oscar and Mari Ann (Kruckeberg) Jones. He served 26 years in the US Army and Army National Guard before retiring. Rick married Margaret C. Wojey on January 5, 1996 in Kalkaska. The couple moved to Prudenville in 1995 after Rick retired from the service. He then began working as a Police Officer for Denton Township Police Department before retiring in 2017 after 22 years of service. Rick was a PT Instructor for Kirtland Police Academy for many years. While in the armed forces he worked as a Tank Commander. He enjoyed camping, chopping wood, being outdoors and working out. Rick loved his dogs and spending time with his family.    

Rick is survived by his loving wife of 23 years; Margaret Wojey of Prudenville, sons; Christopher Jones of Texas and Brandon Jones of Georgia, daughter; Elizabeth Wojey of Harrison, grandchildren; Ravin Wojey, Dezlyn Wojey and Destiny Jones, mother; Mari Ann (James) Luke of Kalkaska, brother; Todd (Michelle) Jones of Kalkaska, sisters; Sandra (Ron) Jones-Yapp of Manchester and Gaye Jones of Traverse City, several nieces and nephews and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his father; Oscar Jones, brother; Jeff Jones and step-father; Jack Arthur. 

A Celebration of Life service for Rick will be conducted on Monday May 13, 2019 at Christler Funeral Home-Prudenville Chapel at 1 pm. The family will greet friends on Monday May 13, 2019 at the funeral home from 11 am until the time of the service. Christler Funeral Home-Prudenville Chapel is serving the family.
