Houghton Lake, Michigan- Nelson Ray Call, of Houghton Lake, passed away on Thursday, March, 7, 2019 at his home in Houghton Lake surrounded by family. He was 68.
Nelson was born on December 13, 1950 to Nelson and Gladys (Myers) Call in Flint. He spent his career working for General Motors for over 30 years until his time of retirement. On July 2, 2003 he entered into marriage with the former Geraldine Lowery in Roscommon. He enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. Nelson loved playing around with and admiring hot rods and motorcycles. In his spare time, he loved going for rides in his beloved Jeep. On a sunny day, you could often find him outside cruising on his John Deere tractor. Nelson loved his special companion, his little chihuahua, Toby. His family will remember him as being a kind heart with a loving soul.
Nelson is survived by his children, Steve Call, Laura Call, Kevin Call, Nikki Call, Nelson (Leah) Call, Kayla Call and Karla (Drew) Chernow; step-children, Robert (Judy) Rayment, Roberta (Richard) Whalen, Mary Jane (Thomas) Faunce and Glen (Brenda) Rayment Jr.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Allen Call, Donna Schifler, Diana Call and Rick (Debbie) Call; several nieces and nephews; and many other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by wife, Geraldine; parents, Nelson and Gladys; grandmother, Sylvia Call; brother, David Call; sister-in-law, Brenda Call; and brother-in-law, Jeffrey Schifler Sr.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 12 noon with visitation held one hour prior at Young-Holdship Funeral Home in Lake City. Interment will take place at Aetna Township Cemetery in the spring.
