Minnie Alberts Obituary

 

Grand Rapids - Minnie M. Alberts, of Grand Rapids and former longtime resident of Marion, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2019 at Edison Christian Health Center. She was 92.

Minnie was born on January 13, 1927, in Plymouth, Michigan to Clarence and Martha (Kogler) Hall. She entered into marriage with Fredrick W. Alberts on August 6, 1945, in Marion. She made her living working with newspaper for a number of years, however was most appreciative of the time and energy she was able to put toward her community volunteering. Minnie was a member of the Marion United Methodist Church, an active part of the Marion VFW Auxiliary, and instrumental in the founding of Marion Eagles Auxiliary. In later years she could often be found spending time organizing old photos or putting together her recipes for a book to graciously pass along to family members. Minnie would pass the time watching anything related to country music or game shows on TV. Family was very important to her and she cherished the opportunity to talk, each day, with her sisters and son on the phone. Her greatest joys and notable her greatest accomplishments came from helping others, as she provided a selfless and loving nature evident in the care she provided for her mother, her husband, and raising her son.

Minnie is survived by her son, Douglas (Marty) Alberts of Grand Rapids; as well as many other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fredrick in 1997; three sisters, Virginia (Floyd) Campbell, Jeanne Blackledge, and Sharon (George) Wonsey; and her brother, Clarence Hall

Committal services and placement of her urn will take place at 12 noon on Saturday, June 8th at the Greenwood Cemetery in Marion, followed by a luncheon at the Marion United Methodist Church.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Edison Christian Health Center in Grand Rapids.
