Edna Mary (Burgess) Beals

Cadillac, Michigan- Edna Mary Beals, of the Manton and Cadillac areas, passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at the Samaritas Senior Living. She was 81.
 
Edna was born on April 17, 1937 to Edward and Florence (Smith) Burgess in Manton. She was a graduate of Manton Consolidated Schools and attended Andrews University. On July 28, 1957, she entered into marriage with Harold Beals in Manton. The couple spent 55 years together until his time of passing in May 2012. Edna spent her career working as a nurses aide at Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital and Samaritas Senior Living for many years. She was a life-long member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. In her spare time, Edna enjoyed crocheting, word puzzles and reading books. She enjoyed spending time outdoors admiring nature and traveling around Michigan.
 
Edna is survived by her son, Robert (Theresa) Beals of Cadillac; son-in-law, Harmon Truax; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Linda Cornell of Cadillac; sister-in-law, Sarah Burgess of Fife Lake; and many other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; children, John Beals, Norma Willis, Cheryl Truax and Brenda  Truax; her parents; and siblings, Alvin Burgess, Norman Burgess, Irvie Burgess and Myrna Cook, Grace Tracy, Helen Wilkins, Lawrence Burgess and Ivan Burgess.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at 3 p.m. with visitation held one hour prior at Hall-Holdship Funeral Home. Pastor Pat Milligan will preside. Interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Manton in the spring.
