Dorothy (Prince) Jones

CADILLAC — Dorothy Elizabeth Jones, a longtime resident of Cadillac passed away on Monday, July 15, 2019, at Green Acres Retirement Living. She was 100.

Dorothy was born on April 8, 1919, in Detroit, Michigan to Robert M. and Ruth R. (Smith) Snowdown. While working with the Ford Motor Company, Dorothy met her future husband James Prince. The two entered into marriage celebrating many years together and the birth of their son, James.  The couple relocated to Cadillac where he preceded her in death in 1977.

Dorothy was never one to sit idle. She was an active and involved mother and community member. She was gracious with her time, energy, effort and often volunteered with the Red Cross, the former Mercy Hospital and hospice program, not to mention, various school and township endeavors. She also was one of the founding members of the Cherry Grove Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Dorothy was a long-standing and appreciated member of First Presbyterian Church in Cadillac, and part of the Cadillac Philharmonic as well as the Cadillac Women's Club. Family was very important to her and she will be deeply missed for her civic commitment, her faith, and her love of others.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Jim (Candice) Prince Jr.of Boon; three step-children, Sue (Dan) Conner, Joy (Joseph) Rouleau, and Richard (Shawnee) Jones; eight grandchildren, Erika (Trevor) Alworden, Emily, Becky, Shelly, Laura, Shannon, Carrie, and Justin; 19 great-grandchildren; as well as many other loving family members, fellow volunteers, church members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Prince in 1977; her second husband, Warren M. Jones in 2006.

Memorial services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Cadillac at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2019, a time of fellowship with coffee and cupcakes will follow. Her urn will be laid to rest at the Maple Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Munson Healthcare Foundation or the Lions Club.
