David DeForest Jordan

David D. Jordan, age 72, of Houghton Lake passed away on Thursday October 31, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

David was born on March 27, 1947 in Houghton Lake, Michigan to Walter and Mildred (Howe) Jordan. He graduated from Houghton Lake and later received his Master's Degree from Central Michigan University. David served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was married on January 6, 1968 in Muskegon to Pamela R. Farwig. David was the owner and operator of Jordan Forest Products for many years. He was also an English and History teacher starting at Houghton Lake Community Schools, he later transferred to Manistee Catholic Central, Vanderbilt Schools and Beaver Island Light House School. He was a member of the Community of Christ Church, 458th Sea Tigers, American Legion Post #245, VFW Post #4034, a lifetime member of the Wounded Warriors and USO. David supported anything that had to do with Veterans. He enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing, reading, spending time at the cabin in Canada but especially loved the time he spent with his puppy Foxy and his family.

David is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Pamela Jordan of Houghton Lake, son; Spencer (Amanda) Jordan of Houghton Lake and daughter; Amber (Dean) Wallison of Houghton Lake, grandchildren; Zack (Ashley), Jake, Katie, Beth, Henry, Abby, Alex (Logan), Sadie, Prescott, Rena and Dalton, great grandchildren; Aiden, Lukas, Danny, Tucker, Lillith and Brixxon. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Alan Carrick.

A Celebration of Life Service for David D. Jordan will be conducted on Saturday November 9, 2019 at Christler Funeral Home- Houghton Lake Chapel at 2 pm. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Saturday November 9, 2019 from 1 pm until the time of the service. Memorial contributions in memory of David are asked to be directed to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at www.jdrf.org. Christler Funeral Home-Houghton Lake Chapel is serving the family.
