Dale M. Larr Jr.

Manton - Dale Marion Larr Jr., Longtime resident of Manton passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Munson Medical Center. He was 80.

Dale was born on August 25, 1938, in Caldwell Township, Michigan to Dale and Opal "Maxine" (Flory) Larr. Dale was a true patriot, he served 20 years in the United States Navy serving in the Vietnam War, retiring in 1974 as an Electrician's Mate First Class Petty Officer. On August 28, 1978, Dale entered into marriage with the former Helen Koton in Caldwell Township. 

Following his time in the Navy, Dale made his living working in the local area operating as a truck driver with the Missaukee County Road Commission and spent several years as a maintenance man for the Pine Grove Athletic Club in Cadillac before eventually retiring. Dale could often be found enjoying the great outdoors hunting and fishing up and down the Platte river.  He took every opportunity to spend time with family and had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. He was a proud member of Moose Lodge as well as the VFW.  

Dale is survived by his loving wife of many years, Helen Larr of Manton; his son, Reeco (Carolyn) Ceresola of Hollywood, MD; extended family, Dave Barkley, Robert Barkley, Crystal (Adam) Riggleman, Desiree (Rick) Lerch, Kristina (Chip) McTighe; nephew, Scott Larr;  fifteen grandchildren; sisters, Gloria (Howard) Taylor and  Ruth (Dave) Briggs; one brother, Jack (Delores) Larr;  as well as many other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Per his wishes cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at Rollins Christian Fellowship, on April 27th, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior.  Officiating will be Rev. Bart Glupker. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Manton Military Museum. 

The family is being served by the Hall-Holdship Funeral Home.
