Loretta Miller Obituary

Lake City - Loretta Mae Miller of Lake City went home to her Heavenly Father on March 18, 2024 at Maple Ridge Living Center surrounded by family.  Loretta was 87 years old.

Loretta was born January 22, 1937 to Max R. Hoekzema and Elizebeth Conway at home in Roscommon County, MI.  She attended Houghton Lake Public School. Loretta married Jack Raymond Miller on May 29, 1954. She was a farmer’s wife for 65 years.  Loretta was a multi - tasker; always on the go.  She took pride in her gardens; was an excellent seamstress; crocheted many afghans and had a talent for painting scenic landscapes. Many enjoyed her baking and cooking, especially her grandchildren. Loretta never met a stranger that didn’t become her friend. She attended Calvary Baptist Church during her adult life. 

Loretta is survived by three children Norma DuVall, Bruce (Jane) Miller and John (Patt) Miller all of Lake City.  She is also survived by five grandchildren Jodi (Tomas) Basurto, Paul DuVall, Charney (Brielan) Miller, Jason (Michele) Miller and Kristin (Casey) Cole; eight great- grandchildren - Brittany DuVall, Alyssa (Zack) Lichon, Gabriela DuVall, Adriana Basurto, Gavin DuVall, Mavery Miller, Hazel Miller and Hart Miller; and one great-great granddaughter - Karlie Cavasos; one sister Connie Johnston, one brother Larry Hoekzema, and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack, daughter Bonnie and brother Max. 

Per Loretta’s wishes, cremation has taken place; a memorial service will be held later.   Loretta requested an act of kindness for an elderly person would be appreciated in place of any contributions or donations in her memory.  Condolences and memories may be shared with the family online at www.HoldshipFuneralHomes.com
