Betty (Digby) Challis

Betty Challis, of Lake City and formerly of the Howell area, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at her home in Lake City. She was 89.

Betty was born on November 5, 1934, to John and Lillian (Barrett) Digby in London, England. In 1957 she entered into marriage with Raymond Eric Challis. The couple relocated to Michigan in the Detroit and surrounding areas. Betty was an active member in the Audubon Society. In her spare time, she could often be found watching birds, gardening, working with ceramics and reading. She had a passion for animals, growing up she had horses and liked going riding, later in life she liked having dogs and cats as companions. Betty liked making trips back home to England to visit family members.  

Betty is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Catherine Challis of Lake City; several nieces and nephews; and many other loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; her parents, John and Lillian; and her brother, John Digby.

Per her wishes, cremation has taken place, and no services will be held at this time.
