Zachary Scott Szabo, age 21 of Traverse City, passed away on October 17, 2017 in Kalkaska County.

Zachary was born March 11, 1996 in Traverse City to Gregory Szabo and Kimberly Fineout.

Zachary was always there for others and would do anything for his friends. He made people feel comfortable and loved to make them laugh. He had a quick wit and enjoyed watching movies. He was a movie buff and not only knew a lot about the movies, but also the actors. Zachary was great with kids and loved his cousins dearly.

Zachary was also an avid sports enthusiast. He loved football season and fantasy football. His favorite teams were the Philadelphia Eagles and the L.A. Kings. Zachary’s number one basketball player was Carmelo Anthony. He also recently umpired for the American Legion Little League Baseball Association.

Zachary is survived by his parents, Gregory (Sylvia) Szabo and Kimberly (Terry) Fineout; grandparents, Ronald (Shirley) Szabo, Sharon Wegner, Ken (Joan) Garrett, and Tony Walenjus; stepbrothers, Joshua Klingelsmith and Christopher Fineout; stepsisters, Ashley, Maria, and Abby Klingelsmith and Stephanie Fineout; aunts, Danielle Szabo, Karri (Clark) Seger, and Teresa (Chris) Miller; uncles, Troy (Teresa) McIntyre and Jon (Sara) Walenjus; and, many cousins.

Zachary was preceded in death by his grandmother, Kathy Walenjus.

Funeral service will be Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Young Funeral Home in Lake City. Visitation will be held Friday, October 20, 2017 from 5-8 pm and Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 11 am until the time of the service at the funeral home.
