Phillip F. Molitor passed away on March 6, 2015 at Belle Oakes Living Center. He was 89 years old. Phil was born on March 17, 1925 in Houghton Lake, Michigan to Charles and Ruth (Johnson) Molitor. He graduated from Lake City High School in 1943. He served in the 326th Army Air Force during WW II as an airplane and engine mechanic from 1943-1946. He often told that after repairing an airplane, the pilot would say, “Okay, let’s go for a ride”. Phil was a member of the American Legion Post #300 in Lake City for 70 years. On August 6, 1949 he married Lorna Stephan at the First Presbyterian Church in Lake City. They were married for 57 years before she passed away on May 11, 2007. He was employed at the Missaukee County Road Commission in the parts department for over 32 years. Even after retirement, he often went back to have coffee with the employees. Phil and Lorna enjoyed camping in their travel trailer and going on bus tours. They spent several winters at Southern Charm RV Park in Zephyrhills, Florida. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, and puttering in his garage, as well as mowing the lawn with his riding mower. He could fix just about anything mechanical. Phil is survived by his son, Daniel (Pam) Molitor and daughter, Donna (John) Beals, both of Lake City; grandchildren, Charlie and Ryan Molitor of Lake City, Kristy (Rich) Sarau of Chassell, and Kevin Beals of Boise, Idaho; great-grandchildren, Bryant, Phillip, Johnathon, and Anessa Molitor, Kathryn, Richard, Elizabella, and Robert Sarau; brothers, Keith (Sally) Molitor of Saginaw, MI/Holiday, FL and Russell (Margaret) Molitor of Lake City. Jan Jasperse of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the service. A luncheon will follow at the American Legion Hall. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #300 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Lake City Cemetery in the spring.
