Mildred “Jane” Tison, age 94, of Lake City passed away September 12, 2016 at her home.
Jane was born May 18, 1922 in Danville, Illinois to John and Bess (Purnell) Hamilton.
She married Carl A. Tison June 15, 1942 at the St. Joseph Church in Danville, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1994.
Jane attended St. Elizabeth School of Nursing and was a long time member of the Legion of Mary.
She was also a member of the Hemerocallis Society. She had a lifelong love of flowers, especially day lilies.
Jane inherited, from her mother, the love of flowers and day lilies that was passed on to her sister, all of Jane’s children and nephew Chuck.
Jane fiercely loved her children and their spouses, grandchildren and their spouses, great grandchildren, sister, nieces and nephews and friends.
Jane is survived by her children: Terry (Liz) Tison of St. Joseph, Illinois, Tom (Mary) Tison of Portland, Oregon, Marianne (Eric) Dickerson of Lake City and Carla (Paul Foust) Tison of Albion.
She is also survived by a sister Jackie Kuchefski of Danville, Illinois, grandchildren: Brian (Laurie) Tison, Michael Tison, Jodi (Bruce Robinson) Johnson, Katherine (Lindy) LaHatt, Kara Jane Tison, Luke (Kate Handschke) Tison and great grandchildren: Carter, Kendall Jane and Quinn Robinson, Connor Tison, Cadyn Tison and Xeira Jane LaHatt, nieces and nephews: Connie, Ticia, Cindy and John Daniel and Chuck and Ken Tison.
Jane was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, Danny Gene Tison, and a brother, John Daniel Hamilton.
A memorial mass will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Lake City with Rev. Bryan Medlin officiating. A time of visitation will be held from
10:00 am until the mass begins.
Burial will take place at a later time in the Albion Memorial Gardens in Albion, Michigan.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Michigan or Munson Hospice.
