Marvin H. Gavin, age 78, passed away February 13, 2015 at home with his family.
Marvin was born October 1, 1936 in Garden City to Frederick and Clara (Hoeft) Gavin.
On September 15, 1956 he married the former Carol Corcoran in Detroit at St. Suzanne Catholic Church.
Marvin worked for General Motor for 34 years, at the Detroit Diesel Allison plant in Romulus, MI. He loved working with wood, golfing, fishing and playing euchre with family and friends. He retired in 1988 and spent 10 awesome years at their home on the St. Mary’s river in Detour Village, MI enjoying life and watching the freighters go by.
Marvin is survived by his wife Carol, children; Marvin & Patty Gavin of Dallas, Georgia, Kimberly & Hubert Russell Jr. of New Boston, MI, Kevin & Robin Gavin of Bayville, New Jersey, Jeffrey Gavin and Ursula Marinelli of Newport, Oregon, Kelly & Danny Mackens of Westland, MI., brothers; Donald and Lucy Gavin of Westland, MI, Gerald and Betty Gavin of Gladwin, MI, Lee and Marilyn Gavin of Dearborn Hghts, MI, Edward G Heinrich,
grandchildren; Hubie and April Russell, Ryan and Krystal Russell, Leah and Josh Ostrander, Christopher Russell, Michael Brazitis and Nicki Bannerman, Alisha Gavin, Shawn Gavin, Domenica Gavin, Nicholas Gavin, great grandchildren; Alessa, Trinity, Ezra, Arianna, Ethan, Ezekiel, Quinney girl, Alivia, Berty Boo, Brooklyn.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick Gavin and Clara and Edward Heinrich.
A Memorial Service will be 11:00 am, Thursday, February 26, 2015 at the St. Stephen Catholic Church in Lake City with Father James Von Tobel officiating.
Memorial Contributions may be directed to the St. Stephen CCW Ladies group and Mercy Hospice, Cadillac office.
