John C. Wachowski, age 69 of Lake City passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014 at
Spectrum Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.

John was born July 29,1944 in Tacoma, Washington to Chester A. and Lu Mae (Veith) Wachowski.

He married Sue Teasdale and later married the former Nanette Simons May 23, 2001.

John was a veteran of the US Air Force, was a life member of the DAV, the American Legion Post 300 in Lake City and served as 1st and 2nd Vice Commander, on several committees and also the executive board of the American Legion Post 66 in Green Valley, Arizona.

He worked at several places of employment; Montgomery Wards, Chrysler Corp,
American Greeting, and an insurance agent for Metropolitan Life.

He moved to Lake City in 1977 and became general manager of The Dock Marina and a
licensed real estate agent with Davis Real Estate and Country Living Real Estate. Beginning in 1983 he became owner of the Lake City Sports Shop, as well as being active in the Chamber of Commerce and Lake Township Board of Review. He was one of the original McFish organizers and member of the Missaukee Conservation Club.

After selling the Sports Shop in 1995 he retired and moved to Green Valley, Arizona, only returning to Michigan in 2012 as a permanent resident of Lake City.
He became a member of the Lake City Eagles.

John was an avid outdoor enthusiast; enjoying hunting, fishing, boating and yard work.

He is survived by his wife Nanette and children: Lynn M. (Craig) Wilton of Lake City and
Scott (Darcy) Wachowski of Flagstaff, Arizona, four grandchildren Steven John and
Samantha Elise Wilton, Dylan and Briana Wachowski and stepchildren: Derrick Beausejour
and Danielle (Beausejour) Clouser and family.

He is also survived by a brother Jim (Barb) Wachowski of Oro Valley, Arizona and special
friends, Steve (Patty) Andrash of Lake City.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Joseph Wachowski.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the Young Funeral Home in Lake City.

Burial will take place at the Lake City Cemetery with the Jackson Koster Gray Legion Post #300 of Lake City conducting Military Honors.

Following the graveside service, there will be a luncheon for family and friends at the American Legion Post #300 in Lake City.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Legion Post #300 of Lake City.
