John Joseph Lukasik, age 94, of Manton, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at the St. John Providence Hospital in Novi.
John was born July 21, 1920 in Jackson to John and Victoria (Hosta) Lukasik.
He married the former Dolores M. McHale November 4, 1944 in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania. She preceded him in death November 30, 1988.
John was a veteran of the US Navy, serving during World War II.
John was employed at Cottage Hospital in Grosse Pointe until his retirement in 1985, at which time they moved to the Manton area.
He attended the St. Stephen Catholic Church in Lake City.
Yard work occupied a great deal of John’s time. He mostly enjoyed his vegetable and flower gardens.
He was a member of the Legion of Foreign Wars.
Surviving John are his children Peggy (Larry ) Armstrong of Florida, John (Julie) Lukasik of Milford, Barbara (William) Wilson of Rockford and Patricia (Jim) Washburn of Roseville and a son in law Arthur Truss of Au Gres, as well as eleven grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
A brother Richard and two sisters Phyllis and Cecilia also survive him.
Besides his wife Dolores, he was preceded in death by a daughter Bonita Truss and seven brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 29, 2014 at the St. Stephen Catholic Church in Lake City, with Rev. James VonTobel officiating. A time of visitation will begin at 10:00 am until the time of service.
Burial will take place in the Lake City Cemetery with the American Legion Post #300 providing Military Honors.
