Jean McGiness, age 92 of Lake City passed away April 4, 2017 at the Maple Ridge Living Center.
Jean was born December 14, 1924 in Cadillac to Frank and Christina (Pung) Laubenthal.
She married Paul McGiness June 1, 1946 in Cadillac. Paul preceded her in death September 9, 2015.
Jean graduated from Cadillac High School and throughout her life she was involved in an abundance of activities. She and Paul were active in Dance Club and square dancing. Jean enjoyed card playing, sewing, knitting, gardening, cooking, baking and most of all her family. She was a member of the St. Stephen Catholic Church in Lake City and the Alter Society. Jean had been the sanctuary flower lady and was involved in many dinners and church activities throughout the years.
She is survived by her children: Linda (Ken) Raden of Fort Myers, FL, Bill (Marcia) McGiness, Joe (Phyllis) McGiness, John (Cathy) McGiness and daughter in law Marlene McGiness all of Lake City.
She is also survived by her nine grandchildren: Jamie (Jim) Hardesty of Ft. Myers, FL, John Raden of Eugene, Oregon, Matt (Amanda) McGiness of Mesick, Bryan McGiness of Milford, Thaddeus (Mallory) of Philidelphia, PA, Brandon (Allison) of Fredricksburg, VA, Zachary (finance, Kiley Kyser) of Traverse City, Seth McGiness of Johnson Creek, WI and Erin McGiness of Lake City and five great grandchildren; James, Aaron and Bryant Hardesty and Owen and Cooper McGiness.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband Paul, eight sisters and a son Gary McGiness.
Funeral mass will be Friday, April 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Stephen Catholic Church in Lake City with Rev. Bryan Medlin officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 6, 2017 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Young Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Lake City Cemetery.
