James Eugene Sloat, age 22 of Manton passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2016.

James was born October 12, 1993 in Traverse City.

He loved nature walks and gardening. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid hunter. James played the quitar and enjoyed his music. He dearly loved his constant companion, Elvis, his dog, who went everywhere with him. James always was involved in family time and hanging out with his siblings.

James is survived by his mother and step dad, Shanda Sloat Waechter and Jonathan Waechter of Manton, his brother and sisters, Zackery, Kaylynn and Katie Dunevant all of Manton and his half brother and sisters, Josh, Brittany and Chelsea Saylor all of Fife Lake.

He is also survived by his maternal grandparents; Christine Haskin and Timothy Sloat, maternal great grandparents; Stan and Aneita Mongar and Ina Sloat, and his paternal grandparents, Al and Cindy Saylor, several aunts, uncles, niece, nephews and his faithful dog, Elvis.

James was preceded in death by his father Alan J. Saylor and many grandparents and great grandparents.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, September 26, 2016 at the Young Funeral Home in Lake City with Rev. Rosanne Anderson officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, September 25, 2016 from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home.

Burial will take place in the Fairview Cemetery in Manton.
