Elmer E. Hejnal, age 61 of Lake City, went to be with the Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 28, 2017 surrounded by his family at Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital..

He was born January 30, 1956 in Cadillac to James and Margaret (Stanley) Hejnal.

Elmer served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, making maple syrup, hunting for mushrooms and cutting firewood. He was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Elmer was a past member of the Lake City American Legion Post 300 and was a member of the Lake City Eagles Lodge 3884.

Elmer is survived by his mother, Margaret Hejnal, brothers: James (Carol) Hejnal, Charles (Nanette) Hejnal, Richard (Vickie) Hejnal and Arne (Jackie) Hejnal and sister: Vera (Steve) Harris. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father James Hejnal in 1984 and a brother William Hejnal in 1984.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at the Young Funeral Home with Pastor Chad Carmichael officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. Those serving as pallbearers will be Steven Hejnal, Rafael Cirineo, Travis Hejnal, Darren Hejnal, CJ Hejnal and Christine Hejnal.

Burial will take place in the Lake City Cemetery with military graveside honors conducted by the Lake City American Legion Post 300.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be directed to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Michigan
