Donna Marie Helsel, age 75, of Lake City passed away at her home, Wednesday, August 13, 2014 with her children by her side.

She was born June 6, 1939 in Forest Township, Missaukee County to Lawrence and Dorothy (Ford) Hancock.

Donna enjoyed working on genealogy with her brother Duane. She also spent time reading her Bible and printing old photographs of the family. She was active in the Lake City Free Methodist Church and Sunday School. She had been involved teaching Vacation Bible School, making crafts and enjoyed flower arrangements and taking pictures.

Donna is survived by her children: Dorothy Helsel (Rob Davis) and Kathleen (Paul) Baldwin, both of Lake City, William Joseph Helsel of Cadillac, Wayne (Adell) Helsel of Manton and Martha Krawczyk Helsel of Austin, TX.
She is also survived by three brothers: Gene Hancock of Battle Creek, Keith (Marion) Hancock of Lake City and James Dean (Cindy) Hancock of Tacoma, WA and a sister Nancy Quick of Gladwin. Also her grandchildren: Angela Helsel and Shannon Baldwin of Lake City, Melanie Hatt of Manton, Kaylee Alvarez of Austin, TX, Matthew and Timothy Helsel of Manton and great grandchildren: Olivia and Isabella Alvarez of Austin TX, and Zoey Hatt of Manton and two sister in laws: Barbara and Eva Hancock.

She was preceded in death by a daughter Evelyn Crummy, her parents; Lawrence and Dorothy Hancock, William Helsel, brothers: Ronald and Duane Hancock and a brother in law David Quick.

A Memorial service will be 5:00 p.m., Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the Lake City Free Methodist Church, with Rev. Doug DeMond officiating.
