Welcome to the memorial page for

Christina Hough Lamkin

October 9, 1916 ~ December 29, 2014 (age 98) 98 Years Old
Christina Hough Lamkin, age 98, of McBain, passed away Monday, December 29, 2014.

Christina was born October 9, 1916 in Yale to William and Mary (Rollins) Hough and raised on a farm with orchards in Almont and graduated as Valedictorian of her high school class.

On September 2, 1939 she married her high school physics teacher, Ervin G. Lamkin. He preceded her in death September 3, 2008.

While living in Whittaker she was actively involved as church organist, taught Sunday School and directed the girl’s choir. Christina would tell Bible stories through the use of a flannel graph with beautiful displays of scenes and characters. They raised their family in Whittaker before moving to McBain in 1981 to be near family.

Christina was a seamstress, loved hospitality and passed on to her children a love of birds, sunsets and sharing of God’s Word.

She was instrumental in helping to establish the Community Concert Series in Ypsilanti.

Traveling was quite a pastime; as she was able to visit each state in the nation, besides Scotland, England and Israel. She and her husband spent their winters in Florida and Arizona.

Christina is survived by her three children: Faye (William) Donnelly and Roland (MD) (Julane) Lamkin both of McBain and Christina (William) Woodward of Seattle, WA.; as well as eleven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren and a sister, Gertrude Venlet of Portage.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Philip and Paul and one great granddaughter, Ruby.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, January 4, 2015 at the Aetna Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Spencer Tuttle officiating.

Burial will take place at the Marble Park Cemetery in Milan.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Northern Michigan Christian School in McBain.
