Carl H. Wolforth, age 83, of Lake City passed away peacefully at home with his family on Wednesday, June 29, 2016.

Carl was born February 3, 1933 in Detroit to William and Erie (Stephenson) Wolforth.

He married the former Dorothy Mitchell January 10, 1953 in Flint.

Carl was a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean War.
He worked for 30 years as a tool and die maker for General Motors Fischer Body in Flint until his retirement at the age of 49.

In 1982 he moved to Lake City, where he welded and made many items for his family and others out of wood in his woodshop. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and played golf and helped at the Dutchman Tree Farm.

He enjoyed his church and the many wonderful friends of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Cadillac. He took his children on wonderful trips to see America and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix in his workshops.

Carl is survived by his wife Dorothy, and children: Laurie (Michael) Van Wormer of Grand Blanc, Steven (Nancy) Wolforth of Swartz Creek and Lisa (Cecil) Mohler of Manton, grandchildren: Michele (Jimmy), Eric (Catie), Scott, Amanda (Irv), Stacy, Rebecca, Laura, and Holly and great grandchildren: Rylee and Jaxon.

He is also survived by many wonderful extended family members.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, a son David Wolforth, a brother, Robert Wolforth and a sister Linda Hofstad.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 3, 2016 at the Cadillac Emmanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Joel Hess officiating. A time of visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place in the VanderWeide Cemetery.
