Betty Lou Vokes

Betty Lou Vokes, age 75 of Moorestown passed away peacefully in her home on the evening of August 27, 2014.
She was born on July 25, 1939 in Toledo, Ohio to Albert and Helene(Rademan) Lewis Sr..
She married Gerald J. Vokes on April 15, 1961 in Muskegon.
Betty was a wonderful wife and mother who truly made a house a home. She dearly enjoyed her family and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting, music, video games, and occasional trips to the casino. She also enjoyed watching NASCAR racing—especially Tony Stewart. Betty was a member of the St. Stephen Catholic Church in Lake City.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Gerald and her children: William (LeAnn) Vokes of Lake City, David (Dawn) Vokes of Goodells, Terrie (Jeff) Wiggins of Moorestown, Joseph (Shan-non) Vokes and Tina (Dean) Parker both of Traverse City.
Her grandchildren: Scott (Katie) Vokes of Livonia; Kristen (Chad) Allen of Lake City; Annie and Ella Vokes of Goodells; Kimberly, Kortney, and Kiley Wiggins of Moorestown; and Lucas and Ali-son Vokes of Traverse City; and her great grandchildren: Abigail Vokes and Ava Zivkovich of Livonia.
She is also survived by her siblings: Marjory Tallman, Bonnie Matyanczyk, Jim (Freda) Lewis, Marilyn Houghton, Harold Lewis, and Emma (Wilbert) Rohlman all of Lake City, Denny Lewis and Terry (Joyce) Lewis both of Townsend, MT, and several nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Helene (Sis) Sherman and Judy Vandenboss; and brothers Rob Lewis, Albert (Sonny) Lewis and Jack Lewis.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, September 1, 2014 at the St. Stephen Catholic Church in Lake City with Rev. James E. VonTobel S.J. officiating.
Visitation will be held Sunday, August 31, 2014 from 4-7 p.m. at the Young Funeral Home with a Rosary beginning at 7 p.m.
Burial will take place in the Lake City Cemetery.
