Angeline VandePol

August 14, 1928 ~ July 20, 2018 (age 89) 89 Years Old
Angeline VandePol passed away July 20, 2018, a month short of her 90th birthday, at the Curry House in Cadillac.
Angie was born August 14, 1928, in Clam Union Township, Missaukee County, to Thomas and Grace (Dykhouse) Boven. After dating all through high school, she married Vern VandePol on May 14, 1948, at the Prosper Christian Reformed Church. She and Vern lived in a large farmhouse east of McBain for almost their entire married life. Angie was a generous person, freely sharing her time, money and talents. Her home was always open to family, friends, and neighbors. She was a favorite aunt to many nieces and nephews. She had an impish way about her and liked to embarrass her children, if possible.
She was a long-time member of Calvin Christian Reformed Church where she taught Sunday school, attended Bible study, and played the organ. She was a Christian in word and deed and raised her children to be the same. Angie was a farmer at heart; she enjoyed driving the tractor and working the fields on the family farm. She also took care of her sheep and helped deliver lambs, often in the middle of the night.
Angie is survived by her husband Vern and seven children: Barb (Dave) Henrickson of McBain, Randy VandePol of Florida, Lori (Joel) Bronkema of McBain, Tami (Rod) Blackledge of South Lyon, Renae (Clark) Schnepf of Lansing, Patti (Carl) Geers of Scottville, Amy VandePol of McBain and a foster daughter, Toni (David) Galvan of Fife Lake. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren: Kelly (Lance) Taylor (James, Molly and Dane), Anne (Al) Thomas (Alan, Charlotte, Casey and Selah), Holly Henrickson, Andy (Jenae) Bronkema (Elliana, Cambria and Seneca), Luke (Becky) Bronkema (Harper and Brynn), Emily (Steve) Michalak (Peyton), Ryan, Thomas and Erin Blackledge, Allison (Josh) Bodell, Lindsey and Laura Schnepf, Eric (Ellie) Geers (Ava, Addi, Amelia), and Lauren, Carli and Madison Geers. Angie is also survived by a sister Marilyn Ouwinga of Marion, a sister-in-law Gertrude Boven of Cadillac a brother-in-law Jim DeHaan of Grand Rapids, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers: Tony Boven and Dee (Gert) Boven, her sisters: Milly (Sid) Visser and Ilene DeHaan, her sister-in-law Celia (Jim) Beerens, her brothers-in-law Don (Irene) VanderPol and Sid Ouwinga, and her granddaughter-in-law Leanna Geers.
